Moonwalk Book Self Portrait Original Ink Drawing (1988)

Description:

Original pen and ink on paper drawing by Michael and signed "MJ 1998". This is the original sketch that was used to create the design of the same image printed at the beginning of the Moonwalk book.

The latest 2009 reprinting of the book includes a new afterward by one of the original editors, Shaye Areheart, who describes working with Jackson on the project, "Our second trip to L.A. to see Michael, we brough along the designer J.C. Suares and a hodgepodge of art supplies...Michael, who loved to draw, and J.C. sketched out pages , and we all talked about the endless possibilities." This sketch comes directly from J. C. Suares who was the designer working with Michael on Moonwalk. The drawing comes together with two color photos of Suares working on the design of the book.

Sold by Julien's Auctions (Lot #471) for $44,800 at their 2010 Music Icons auction.  All screen captures are the property of their respective owners.
