Description: This western style bib front shirt was custom made for Michael by Tony Alamo of Nashville, and Michael wore the shirt on many occasions from 1983-85. Among these occasions was an event in 1983 where he was photographed with Hugh Heffner and Steven Hoefflin (Michael's plastic surgeon who did the "Thriller era" surgery in 1982), as well as Quincy Jones at the same event. He also wore the shirt in Miami at Barry Gibb's house where a picture was snapped as he leaned against a balustrade overlooking the water. The last time he apparently wore it was in 1985 when he was co-writing the song "We Are The World" with Lionel Ritchie. The "red" version of this shirt was famously worn during photoshoots of Michael with his "Pets", including Bubbles the Chimp. From The Golden Closet/Gotta Have It: The black shirt by “Tony Alamo of Nashville” is made of a polyester knit, with long sleeves, pointed collar, and white pearlized snaps down each side and bottom of the bib and on the sleeve cuffs. The bib is trimmed with white piping, and has narrow white braid passementerie embellishment. The collar is trimmed with stamped metal collar points. This shirt was sold by Gotta Have It on two separate occasions: (Lot #5) at their 3/11/10 Rock & Roll Pop Culture Auction (for $15,462), and again on 3/26/11 for $12,777.60. All screen captures are the property of their respective owners. |
