there are so many platinum Number Ones out there. Just between the people that visit this site, we might be able to count over 100 cards of a single Number One.

That's because there ARE more than 100 of the Number Ones Platinum. Lots more. It's all explained right here:

What are the “Number Ones Deluxe” inserts included in the checklist and mentioned in the original hobby boxes?

Panini states that these WERE released in this set, however, they are simply the Platinum foil parallel version of the cards (numbered 178-190). In fact, these “Deluxe” cards have been produced in much larger quantities than even the “Gold” foil parallel cards, as the quantity produced matches the year in which the song reached the number one status (i.e. “Beat It” reached #1 in 1983, and hence the number of “Number Ones Deluxe” for that particular card). See the below for a complete list.

178 “Ben”: 1972

179 “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough”: 1979

180 “Rock With You”: 1980

181 “Billie Jean”: 1983

182 “Beat It”: 1983

183 “Say Say Say”: 1983

184 “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You”: 1987

185 “BAD”: 1987

186 “The Way You Make Me Feel”: 1987

187 “Man In The Mirror”: 1988

188 “Dirty Diana”: 1988

189 “Black Or White”: 1991

190 “You Are Not Alone”: 1995

The problem with what you are saying is that on the boxes for the second wave of cards, there is a corrected list of cards that you can get from the set. They removed Number Ones Deluxe from the list. So according to Panini's own list on the box, Number Ones Deluxe doesn't exist. That means there should only be 100 platinums of each Number Ones card. I think we all know there are more than that.

Eric: Sorry, but your logic doesn't make any sense. The numbers for the Number Ones Deluxe have ALWAYS been the same. They removed the "Number Ones Deluxe" text from the Wave 2 box because it was confusing, not because the counts for the Number Ones Deluxe were altered. Panini gave us the info on the counts for Number Ones Deluxe way back in late May, and it hasn't changed.

So panini removed correct information from the box, making the box inaccurate? Instead of keeping the correct text and maybe making it more clear? That's not logical at all.

It was confusing either way. People had no idea what the "Number Ones Deluxe" were. Most people assumed that these cards were somehow RARER than the other Platinum cards, which of course was exactly the opposite. Personally, I don't get the logic behind making a "Number Ones Deluxe" in the quantities that they did, since "Deluxe" seems to imply there is something special about them. The only thing I can think of is that they wanted people to be able to complete a foil set of these cards more easily than they could with the other cards (and maybe because these cards represent MJ's #1 records as a rationale for that).

We all have the choice to believe what we want. I'm collecting these cards because I like them and not for the quantity made, but I have to say I do not believe Panini in regards to the quantity made. There are just too many inconsistencies. Originally there was only going to be one release. Then once they saw how well they sold, there was a second release.

The fact that one person found 2 of the same diamond cards is really suspicious. There are supposed to only be 10 in the whole world and someone found 2?
